After discussing the Primary PE website earlier this month I've had a reply from Hew.
I think your comments are valid and reflect thoughts of many teachers. With so much now becoming available on the www, how do you actually decide which is best. Hopefully your site will help teachers with this.
Our web site contains 480 lesson plans [80 units] covering gymnastics, dance, games and athletic activities. We start at Reception and go through to Y6. At Reception we address the Physical Development in the Foundation Stage and at KS1 & KS2 our work is developed from the QCA SoW. There's also an OAA scheme of work covering activities from Reception to Y6. So, much of the material is prescriptive if teachers decide they want to adhere to the lesson plans; in this respect we've responded to demands. In other parts of the web site we've included activity ideas, for teachers wishing to develop their own ideas. We continually update and add to our web site.
School have a similar remit to yours, though they will only provide evaluations if you pay them, as we did. However, I've not read negative comments by them on any site they've evaluated. This then begs the question as to their objectives. Is it to provide an unbiased and honest report for teachers or will they provide a positive report for companies like ours if we pay them? I think they've missed the point somewhere.
Regarding a free trial, it's a bit difficult to give unauthorised users access. We're always happy though for schools to contact us to arrange this.
